Meet The Team…

Sam Sly(Director)

Sam is a Regulation, Health and Social Care consultant working as Sam Sly Ltd (Enough is Enough Time4Change). She is a registered social worker with nearly 30 years of extensive experience working as a support worker, social worker, commissioner, regulator and support provider.

Sam developed the process and coined the phrase ‘Life Planning’ which describes the type of person-centred planning she uses.

Sam was part of the Change Team seconded in to transform services in Cornwall post the Budock Hospital scandal and led on the closure of NHS campus provision in Bournemouth. She has an MSc in the regulation of health & social care.

Alongside Life Planning Sam does consultancy work for a range of Support Providers, Voluntary Organisations, NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups & Local Authorities nationally. Sam spent four years from 2011 setting up, co-owning and as operational Director for Beyond Limits a small dynamic support provider carrying out person- centred planning with people with learning disabilities detained in Assessment & Treatment Units and providing bespoke services for them on return to their local communities. It was here that she developed Life Planning based on a process being used by Partners for Inclusion.

Sam has extensive knowledge and skills in the provision of Life Planning, and of housing and help for autistic people and people with learning disabilities or mental health needs who have been labelled with big reputations including the use of personal budgets and individual service funds.

Life is not all about work for Sam. She also has two wonderful children and three beautiful grandchildren and likes nothing more than spending time being a Mum and a Nana.

Nikki Henderson (Director) Nikki has worked with people with support needs both in providing support and promoting people’s rights all her working life. This has taken on many forms, from setting up and running a Social Enterprises; supporting those furthest from the labour market to get back into work; setting up and running a provider organisation which utilised Life Planning to deliver tailored support to people in their own home whilst avoiding the use of more restrictive alternatives; and working with Devon & Cornwall police delivering training to identify perpetrators and victims with vulnerabilities to assist in reducing hate crime.

As a commissioner Nikki ensured the involvement of families and people throughout the commissioning process, working with NHS Trusts to improve health outcomes for people with a learning disability, and supported a self-advocacy organisation to become self-governed. Nikki has supported many families and individuals through Person Centred Planning and as an independent advocate.

Nikki has a track record of supporting organisations to make the cultural shift to person-centred delivery and currently undertakes work for the LGA, NDTi and independent provider organisations looking to change.

Nikki loves being at the coast or up on Dartmoor when it is windy and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
